TIS the Season...Holiday Orders Complete.

Well, the holiday weekend is here and we are psyched that we managed to deliver on all of our promises again this year. Our last appointment just picked up their wedding proofs and it was so much fun to share the images with everyone.

Congratulations again Carla and Al! I just had to share a few images from their wedding. These were taken during their first dance and the combination of the three together is stunning.

Pierre Hotel Holiday Decor

The holidays in Manhattan are always special. There is such a great vibe here with the store front displays lit up and the holiday spirit in the air.

Today I photographed the interior of The Pierre Hotel on 61st and 5th. The Pierre is, in our opinion, one of the most unique hotels in all of Manhattan, or the world for that matter. Our good friend David Tutera does all of the in house floral at The Pierre so we set out to capture the decor for both the hotel and for David as well. The tree and rooms are just stunning. I actually combined three separate images to create this one image. Using a tripod, I took the same image, but exposed it three times, one under-exposed by 2 stops, one perfect exposure, another 2 tops overexposed. It was captured with my Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II in RAW mode. Then, I used the underexposure to give detail to the wall sconce lighting and used the overexposed image to draw attention to the tree and other decor elements.

Engagement Portraits in Old New York

So Jennifer and I worked together to photograph some engagement portraits yesterday in the Meat Packing District in Manhattan. I wanted to share a few images as they came out so fantastic. I love this area of the city. It is a quaint area that is growing into a very fashionable section of the city with boutiques and restaurants popping up everywhere. There is lots of colorful brick and a lot of charm to this historical section of the big city.
We captured these images with our Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II at f 5.6 with natural light. I love the old fashioned feel of the top right and loved the fact that the cab had the headlights on. The lower right also had a fun fashionable feel to it, so that was cool as well. It’s always great when a couple wants to get out of the studio into real life situations. It always leads to spontaneous photographs that have originality.

Interview for Together In Style

It’s been a while since my last post. The holiday season is in full gear at the studio and we have been working 12 hour days making sure we are able to deliver on our promises for holiday gifts, etc. We just created a new holiday window display in our Connecticut gallery which is gorgeous so stop by if you are in the area.

Together In Style, Luxury Wedding Television Online is due to pre-launch in late December with the official launch in the spring. A few days ago, David Tutera interviewed Charles on the topic “Digital vs. Film”. There is a lot of misinformation out there publicized in magazines and on other websites that simple doesn’t make sense. Charles shares advice on whether to choose a film photographer, digital photographer, or both. Charles joins a host of other celebrity wedding experts in over 3 hours of luxury television programing including Laura Gellar Make-up artist to the stars, Brett Culp videography, Stacy Lynn hairstylist, Mara Urshel owner of Kleinfeld, couture designer Mika Inatome and many others. Together In Style is the first and only luxury wedding website of it’s kind that is gaining momentum and praise from all directions. Keep an eye out and we’ll let you know when it is launched so you can learn from the worlds leading experts.
