Girl Scouts Photography Badge

It was so nice to have a local girl scouts troop visit our studio today so we could help out to educate them about photography. They were all getting their photography badges and they all had photo projects to share. We talked about all sorts of photography related subjects and answered questions. Then they help us do lighting tests, set the studio lights, and we took a portrait with them. We took them through every step of how digital photography works. After we took the portrait, we downloaded the photographs into Aperture and cropped the photograph. Then opened it in Photoshop and darkened the edges and finally printed it on our state of the art Polieletronica Laser Lab. Each girl when home with an 8x10 portrait. We were happy to help out and would like to thank them for the great questions and excitement about photography in general.

Late Night Working

1am EST... I am up on the computer listening to a live show of Widespread Panic we saw at Madison Square Garden last September. In a creative mood, so I had to start working on images from a wedding we photographed in NYC last night. We had such a great day! I want to thank Ruby and Mike for having us be a part of their special day. The photographs are stunning! I can't wait to share them with you. I have distinct ideas of how I am going to artfully design these photographs. Here is photograph taken from the hotel window. As you can see it was a gorgeous day.

It is starting to snow and we are supposed to get 2-4 inches overnight here in CT. Mondays, we take off work, if there is such a thing. So, I will probably lay low and WORK from home. Ha Ha.. Hey at least it's a labor of love. We believe you have to strike while you have passion about your images. So we always spend the days after each event working on creating the Artist Designer Photographs which are artfully mastered to our insanely high standards. I'll make sure to post a few favorites when I am done.. Good night all...

The Secret

After seeing the Oprah show last week and their showcase of the writers of the book "The Secret". I had to go out and buy it for my sisters birthday. But, as luck would have it, it was sold out, and the audio version was sold out. So, I picked up the DVD.

While I found the DVD a little cheesy in some ways, the message was fantastic. Jennifer and I have used the ideas and concepts in the book for years and know it works. Keeping a positive outlook, pre-visualizing your achievements and your life, and training your mind to think this way truly does allow the universe to work in your favor. The goal, happiness, success, financial freedom... whatever it is, is possible and only you are in control to manifest your dream.

This mindset hit home years ago with a book that, through a series of coincidental events, found me called "Believe It and You Will See It" by Dr. Wayne Dyer. The Secret simply affirms and backs up a belief we have had for years. I highly recommend it to all as it offers a new way of looking at life, the world, and your destiny.

Disney Dream Wedding Images

We spent days on end creating some amazing images from the Dream Team Wedding. We are excited to share some images here with you now. You can also see a slide show of more images in the NEWS section of our website for a while. We went for a very clean colorful look with with some etherial black and white imges as well. As you will see, this was a very over the top wedding that had plenty of exciting challenges including bright sun, open air at night with nothing to bounce our flashes off of, fireworks, and more.
There were also film crews from Entertainment Tonight, The Food Network, Disney, and others along with a press area filled with photographers. Our goal was to keep the focus on the couple and the emotion so there was also a challenge to keep other photographers and camera crews out of our photos.
The event was designed by David Tutera, so needless to say, it had stunning floral arrangements, original decor, and gorgeously contrasting colors.
The bride arrived by horse and carraige with 20,000 park guests lining Main Street.

Following an emotional ceremony, the couple enjoyed a few rides in the park before arriving for their reception late in the evening just in time for the Disney Parade and an incredible fireworks display over the castle.

The night ended with Andy Kushner's Sound Connection band entertaining everyone in the park as the guests and couple danced the night away. This one has to go down in the record books. We are excited to have had the opportunity to be a part of such a special event and want to congratulate Julie and John and wish them the best life has to offer. It was great to be a part of your special day!

Over the top Dream Team Wedding

We are here stuck in the Orlando airport with flight delays reminiscing about the insane event we just captured. I guess the good news is we got out of the northeast just before the snow storm. For the first time in history, Disney opened the steps of the Castle during park hours for a real wedding and we were the exclusive photographers. Entertainment tonight, Food Network, and Disney covered the event and we had full reign to capture the event anyway we wanted. It was a 20 hour event, so we are pretty worn out, yet excited about the images. Disney went all out with light shows, fireworks, and a clear tent reception in the rose garden right next door to the castle. Can't wait to share some images with everyone. Special thanks to Brett Culp of the CVP experience that helped us out at the event.

Got to catch a flight...

Well it's 5am and we are about to catch a flight from JFK to Orlando for the Dream Team Wedding. We are pretty excited with 4 hours of sleep in us, we are good to go.

DigitalGURUtv is getting so close to being finished. The back end is done which has been a long journey to figure out. We managed to get referred to an expert that knows what they are doing. It is so strange that virtually no companies are up to date with technology. Every web developer we spoke with tried to lead us down the road of HTML web design with touches of Flash. It didn't matter how big the firm was, they just didn't get it. I guess that is why, when you really think about it, the web isn't all that great. It is truly still in its infancy. Websites are built by people who understand DATA instead of artists that understand visual communication. We knew it could be done in Flash, so we didn't get discouraged, we just kept searching. The past six months we have created television segments on all sorts of educational topics that include; on location flash techniques, wedding etiquette, marketing, studio lighting, engagement portrait concepts and products, children's portraits ideas, studio lighting, data management, wide format inkjet printing, and so many more. We are part of a new generation of photographers that uses technology in new ways and understands how to communicate with it. We are excited to share all of our information in this new concept that is unpresidented and literally has never been done before.

Well.. Got to run and catch a flight.

Back to the country

Back to the country today and taking a day to just relax. Took Jellybean, our Mastiff puppy of 120 pounds for a walk. It's a gorgeous day here in CT as we prepare for the Noreaster that is supposed to hit on Tuesday. However, Jennifer and I will hopefully miss it as we are flying out on Tuesday to photograph the Brides Magazine / Disney Dream Team Wedding.

It should be quite an event to capture. Entertainment tonight is covering the event, The Food Network is also covering the wedding, and I am not sure who else, but it should be great I am sure. We look forward to photographing the couple and making sure they have an incredible experience that is personal. As great as it is to have such an over the top wedding, it is still the most important and personal day of their lives. So, one of our goals will be to capture the gala celebration, and the other will be to showcase how they feel about each other and focus on the relationships for their families. After all, that is what this is all about.

So, tomorrow we prepare our gear and head to NYC to catch an early flight on Tuesday. Look forward to sharing the experience and images with everyone.

Back to the city

It's been a great day at work and now it's 8pm and we are headed off to NYC for assignments this weekend. I am excited about an engagement session this weekend as we are going ice skating in the city. I always love it when a couple plans a special date and has us join them for a while. It leaves them with a great memory, and with great photographs to top it off.

Together In Style, the luxury wedding website we have partnered to help design and create is growing so fast it is staggering. Now, we are launching a special grooms section and have segments booked with experts on all sorts of topics from men's health to custom clothiers and much more. We are so excited to be a part of creating something so well produced that focuses on the finer things in life.

Well, I have an hour and a half drive ahead of me, got to run...

Turning 35, How lucky I Am...

Well, it's official. I am middle aged. I turned 35 today. My family took me to a great dinner at Mohegan Sun Casino and it was a pretty simple celebration. I received several cards and each took the time to write a special note. I am a softie, so each one brought a tear to my eye.

I am so lucky to have a close family. My family and my wife's family celebrate together, take vacations together, and we get all get along so well that I can't even recall a real dispute. We look out for one another. If one person is having financial trouble, we help and it never fails to come back around in other ways. A friend and accountant I have always laughs when he sees how we get along, stating that he has never seen a family business in which every just works it all out. There is never jelousy and never greed. We just make sure everyone is alright.

So, after reading the cards and notes, I just want to say how honored I am to be the son of amazing parents, a husband to an amazing wife, and a brother to two generous and helping ciblings. To my nephews and all my friends.. Thank you for your support and thank you for making me look forward to each and every year. I love you all...

Just Chillin

I had the privelege of photographing a wedding yesterday for a local couple from my home town in Wallingford, Connecticut. The day ran so perfectly. If anything went wrong, I sure didn't see it. To top it all off, it started snowing just after dusk and that added to the charm of the evening. Today, I worked on organizing their photographs and preparing them for proofing and will continue that tomorrow as well.

This is the first real snowfall we have had all year. We didn't get much, but Vermont got 4-5 inches of fresh powder. I was sooo hoping to go snowboarding tomorrow with my nephew, but the forecast says it's going to be 10 degrees in Vermont. I think we'll try another day. I love to ride, but unless it is dumping snow, I'll pass on frozen ice packed day. My nephew is my buddy. He is 17 and is fun to hang out with. Everyone asks if we are brothers as we look just alike.

I have a dinner party with some good friends tonight, so I am looking forward to a relaxing evening here in Connecticut. They are all musicians, so we will probably jam a little. With the snow outside on the ground, it will be great to build a fire, play some guitar, and just enjoy the country setting of CT.
