More Spring Portraits

In just one week the entire look of our natural outdoor studio has evolved and changed once again. The field grass has turned a bright yellow, and is creating some amazing looks. We love how each week gives us new options and ideas for portraits to be one of a kind.

The light here is by far some of the best in Connecticut. Many say it reminds them of Napa or Tuscany, and it certainly is shining in our outdoor portraits. As you can see, we've been taking elegant furnishings into the outdoors creating some interesting looks beyond the ordinary.

We leave on assignment for a week in Antigua to film HD motion picture and photograph a five star resort called Curtain Bluff. We have six days of unlimited potential ahead. We look forward to sharing some of the results with you all.

New Edition Portrait Sitting

So many of our couples come back for family and children's portraits. We actually photographed three sisters weddings in this particular family and have photographed all of their children growing up. It is truly sentimental to us to enjoy seeing families that we come to love and grow with over the years. Here are a few favorites from a recent family session within this wonderful family. A new addition to the family is a great opportunity and reason to not only photograph the baby, but the whole family as well. This is in our studio in the north light section so everything is 100% natural light coming through the windows. On great days like this the studio is completely an open air environment that is perfect for portraits, and is very relaxing. I love the casual effect of the denim walls as it compliments blue jeans so well.

Don't Miss the Pre-Teens

We photographed two great kids, brother and sister, this past week who are also incredible musicians. There are so many fun and cute ideas for pre-teens, and this session really shares what a fun age it is to be 10 or 11 years old. So many parents photograph their young ones when they are babies and up until they are 5 or so. Then the next thing you know, they are seniors in high school. Parents take note... Pre-teen is an incredible age for portraits. This is a time you don't want to miss out on capturing. Check out some of the shots from this incredible full day session.

Outdoor Portraits

As the weather warms up and the flowers and leaves come out on the trees, portrait season is getting very busy here at the studio. Yesterday, we took these portraits at our Connecticut home. It is hard to believe this is right out our door and available for all of our families, children, seniors, and lifestyle sessions. We love that the grounds are natural, classic, and not too groomed. We have three acres of endless little nooks we created. And, there is a farm next door, so the fields are gorgeous, and the light here is golden. It really gives that Town and Country / Ralph Lauren / Abercrombie and Fitch feel to the photographs. Classy, yet country. I am going to start posting more portraits to share on the blog as we have such a booming season ahead.
Anyone who wants to have incredible outdoor portraits in pristine light at a stunning location should really consider a session here. Lots of fun, very relaxed, and the end results are incredible as well.

cycling race

Yesterday, I raced my bike and got to hang out with some great friends and team mates. I finished in the middle of the pack, which I was glad for considering I have gotten all of one training day in this spring. Most importantly, I avoided two big crashes happening right next to me. We are one of the team sponsors this year for Stage One cycling team, and we captured some photographs of the race. I put a link online, and anyone who was at the race can enjoy the images and download them for personal use. The gallery was created out of Aperture 2.0 and I was shocked at how easy Apple made it to create such a great gallery online. The photo is of my buddy Matt. We have been racing together since we were 16 years old or so.

BVI Video

video
My sister has been on me to finalize this video from one of our family adventures. I grew up sailing with my mom and dad, and it is a passion of mine. I pretty much like anything that is adventurous and unique. My dad started these sailing adventures after being diagnosed with Cancer. We took a sailing trip each year which are among my best memories. He was a strong fighter and survived for many years with Multiple Myloma. We continue to take these trips in honor of my father, who was the most honest man I knew, and was a friend to everyone he met. I guess you could say my best friend. For everyone that joined us on this trip, sorry it took so long to get this video short done. There is an extended version as well. For those that don't know us, and that get a chance to see this, welcome to my fun, crazy, but cool family. We are a little goofy, but just having fun. It's pretty rare we can get this many of us together at once. This is a trip to the British Virgin Islands. The footage is simply from a little hand held video camera. Then the edit was done in Final Cut Studio. Nothing special, but it is a memory we each hold dear. Hope you all enjoy...

Wedding Season Begins!

Wedding season kicked in here at Maring this past weekend! Yeahh... In New England, we have a seasonal wedding business. Except for a few destination events over the winter months, we usually catch a break to concentrate and plan for the busy time from Jaunuary - March.

We are back from Orlando where Jennifer and I photographed the first David Tutera / Disney Couture Wedding and rehearsal dinner with a wonderful couple. The new luxury line of Disney weddings are the real deal to say the least. The floral, lighting, furnishings, and details were all stunning and they really put together a spectacular event. One amazing thing about the Disney Team we noticed immediately as they truly all focus on solutions instead of problems. It's a great energy to be around, and it's obvious they enjoy what they do. Thursday was the rehearsal dinner, and the wedding was on Saturday, so we got a day to spend together and relax by the pool, visit the Magic Kingdom, and Pleasure Island which was great. Check out some of the moments below!

Been home for a few days working on a new garage that was built in the orchard section of our home in Connecticut. We now have a new home office there as well which will be great since we work at home so often. It's been a lot of work, but it's all nearly done. The weekend will be amazing with two wonderfully lavish weddings in Miami and New York.
